Details: The Van Veen Grab is versatile equipment for sediment collection. Two hinged Trap doors with locking arrangement are provided for sub sampling purpose. The equipment has a triggering mechanism for closing on bottom contact. The Van Veen Grab offered is made of Stainless Steel. The equipment is supplied with standard accessories of S.S. Wire rope slings and Shackle. The total weight is approximately 18 kg. The grab can be easily operated by hand from small boats.Custom built Van Veen Grab is also available as per customer’s specifications.

Ekman Birge Grab: -

The picture at right shows the Ekman Birge grab. This grab is available 150 mm x 150 mm x 250 mm height.

The left hand picture shows the grab at open condition and suspended by nylon rope and the brass messenger about to hit the triggering mechanism. The right picture shows that the grab closed. The grab shown here is made of Mild Steel and galvanised for anti corrosion properties. This is suitable for collecting sediment samples from still water, e.g. lakes & ponds.

Smith McIntyre Grab: -

This grab is an effective device for collecting quantitative samples of slow moving and sedentary organisms inhabiting sediments. Particularly in sandy regions where a conventional grab fails. The grab is lowered vertically from a stationary boat to take a sample of sediment of a given surface area. The grab area is 0.2 Sq.M.

Okean Grab:-

The grab is suitable for collecting poly-metallic nodules (Ferro-manganese nodules), phosphorites, hydrothermal sulphides, placer deposits and sand. The picture shown at right side is an Okean Grab supplied to NIO, Goa for deployment from RV Boris Petrov. The equipment closes on bottom contact by a special triggering mechanism attached to the wire rope hook.
